Link open tasks to deals, contacts and accounts in Zoho CRM

Tasks float around with no record attached
Someone created a task from the Tasks module and never set the related record. It does not show on the deal, the account owner does not see it, and reports by deal miss it. Finding these tasks is one view; working out what each belongs to means reading every subject.

Propose a link only when the match is clear
Describe the tasks. For example:
Find open tasks not linked to any deal, contact or account. Suggest a link only where the subject names one record clearly.
It reads open tasks with no related record and no contact. For each, it searches deals, contacts and accounts for a name that appears in the subject. It proposes a link only when exactly one record matches; tasks with no match, or with several, are left unlinked and listed for you.
After you approve, it sets the task’s related deal or account, or its contact, on the tasks you choose. More than 20 at once asks for a final confirmation. It does not change the subject, owner or due date.

How to do it by hand in Zoho CRM
You can do this in Zoho CRM yourself. Here are the steps.
- Open the Tasks module and create a custom view of open tasks.
- Go through the list and find the tasks with no related record and no contact.
- Open each one, read the subject, and search for the matching deal, contact or account.
- Edit the task and set the related record.
It gets slow because every task needs its own search before it can be linked.
